NFL Predictions- Week 5

It's been a rough year. Just 8-6 straight up, which is horrible, and 6-8 ATS which is terrible. Seasonal record stands at 38-23 SU and 31-30 ATS. Onto week 5:

PACKERS (-6.5) over Falcons- Packers are in somewhat of a tailspin right now, but the Falcons have shown zero ability to play on the road in 2008. 6.5 is alot of points but I cant see the Packers fooling around this weekend. Packers 27 Falcons 13

Bears (-3.5) over LIONS- Chicago could be in for a small letdown off a huge win on Monday night, but even a small letdown should be enough to beat up on the woeful Lions. Detroit had some major soul searching to do on their bye week. Bears 37 Lions 19

TEXANS (+3.5) over Colts- Houston caught a terrible break with the storm forcing them to play 3 road games to start the season. They gave a great effort last week to try to salvage the year and know that if they lose this week to the Colts the season is finished. At the least they should compete with a Colts team that may struggle all season long. Colts 27 Texans 24

Chiefs (+9.5) over PANTHERS- Kansas City got their one win out of the way in a stunning upset of the Broncos and will be hard pressed to duplicate their success away from Arrowhead. That said the Chiefs typically keep games within 10 away from home and a team like the Panthers will allow them to do so. That win will be a distant memory by 4:30 PM on Sunday. Panthers 17 Chiefs 9

DOLPHINS (+6.5) over Chargers- You would think after a huge win against the Jets the Chargers would have steamrolled the Raiders, instead they had to wait for the Raiders usual 4th quarter implosion to get the game in check. Dolphins can generate enough offense to keep this close, especially with San Diego eyeing the chance to destroy New England one week from Sunday. Chargers 24 Dolphins 20

GIANTS (-6.5) over Seahawks- People are calling the Giants the best team in the NFL now. Iím not sure Iíd go that far, but I know they are much better than the Seahawks if they bring their A-game. 6.5 is steep for the G-men at home, but Seattle is so banged up and plays so poorly on the road I dont give them a big chance. Giants have had nightmares against this team and will be looking to stick it to them on Sunday. Giants 29 Seahawks 14

RAVENS (2.5) over Titans- Baltimore really showed me something on Monday in Pittsburgh. Maybe it really was the coach all along that has been a problem there as the Ravens are playing their best football, at least defensively, in 4 years. Ravens getting points at home is almost always a solid choice. Another slugfest for the Titans, looking to lengthen their lead in the AFC with another win. Not sure where the offense comes from this week, but 5-0 is too much for Tennessee. Baltimore 16 Titans 13

EAGLES (-5.5) over Redskins- Washington had a fantastic win in Dallas and is going to be drained by back to back road trips. If they pull off the upset this week in Philadelphia they are going to put themselves in prime position to win the NFC East. Eagles had every opportunity to win last week and couldnt get the job done. They will take their frustrations out on Washington this week. Eagles 26 Redskins 13

Buccaneers (+3.5) over BRONCOS- Denver does not even try to play defense at this point. To give up over 30 to the Kansas City Chiefs is an embarrassment. Bucs have shown the ability to put up points and Griese wont be afraid to air it out against his former team. Whoever has the ball last wins the game. Broncos 31 Bucs 30

Bills (+1.5) over CARDINALS- Arizona got lit up in New York last week and has lost 1/3 of its offense with the injury to Anquan Boldin. You wouldnít expect as many turnovers as last week, but what can you really teach a 37 year old QB that cant hold the ball when he gets hit? Bills batter Warner around to win outright. Bills 23 Cardinals 17

COWBOYS (-10.5) over Bengals- Marvin Lewis should have been fired last year, but rather than fix a sinking ship they kept him and signed Cedric Benson to add to the madhouse in Cincy. Dallas is going to try to make everyone forget about their loss last week. Not going to be close. Cowboys 38 Bengals 16

49ERS (+3.5) over Patriots- New England just is not a good football team anymore. They donít have the parts to keep up with the Mike Martz style offense and as soon as the 49ers realize Matt Cassel cant throw more than 5 yards down the field its over. Alot of people who thought the Bradyless Pats were still a playoff shoe in will be questioning themselves after this one. 49ers 21 Patriots 16

Steelers (+3.5) over JAGUARS- Not exactly the game everyone thought it would be, is it? David Garrard, as expected, has regressed as a QB, while Big Ben is running for his life behind a porous offensive line with no running game. Steelers have probably had this game circled since last year and would probably win if at full strength, but they arent and they wont. Still this will be very close. Jaguars 16 Steelers 13

SAINTS (-3.5) Over Vikings- Minnesota spent too much of the offseason mouthing off at the Packers rather than preparing for the football season. Their lack of a player at QB has them reeling and New Orleans is not the place to turn things around. Saints 28 Vikings 20.
