Aaron Hernandez signed a 5 year contract extension worth a potential $40.69 million dollars on August 26, 2012. The contract contains $15.5 million in guarantees of which $13.04 million is fully guaranteed. Hernandez will receiver roster bonuses of up to $500,000 from 2015-18, based on weeks on the gameday roster. In addition Hernandez will receive workout bonuses of $500,000 per year from 2014-18. The contract contains $2.5 million in Pro Bowl incentives. Hernandez received a signing bonus of $12,500,000. There may be a present value calculation attributed to the signing bonus, but as of now the cap charges are presented as if it is a straight prorated bonus. Base salaries of the contract are $540,000(2012), $1,323,000(2013), $1,200,000(2014), $2,300,000(2015), $5,000,000(2016), $6,000,000(2017), and $6,000,000(2018)
