NFL Efficiency- Week 7

With the mind numbingly bad performance of the Ravens and the blowout against the Colts, the New Orleans Saints jumped 7 spots to claim the number 1 position for the week. Baltimore was trending so high that they were due to come back to earth a bit, though that was a horrendous game against Jacksonville. The Saints offense jumped nearly 20% off the week so that makes me think they are not long for the top spot. Not much separates the Saints, Ravens, 49’ers, and Packers at this point. The Bills were the other new entry into the top 5 as they swapped placed with the Patriots. Both teams were idle but the teams the Bills had faced thus far had a more impressive week which is why the teams switched spots. The only new addition to the top 10 this week were the Houston Texans who replaced the Oakland Raiders. Houston jumped from number 11 to number 8 while the Raiders fell from 10, a spot they held for a few weeks, to number 14.

Perhaps the fastest rising team is the Atlanta Falcons, who have moved 11 spots in the last two weeks. Maybe they have finally fixed whatever was the problem early in the year. They were the lone new entrant to the top 15. The Titans have fallen like a brick and the Cinderella story appears to be over for them. They have fallen 13 spots since week 4, when they ranked in the top 10 and they may be close to making the change at QB. The Redskins are another team falling each and every week, going from number 12 in week 4 to number 19 after week 7. The concerning thing for Washington is that its consistent and not just a bad game. The bad teams remain terrible and the Colts and Rams are really locked in a battle right now. The Rams have a better defense and the Colts a better offense. It probably gives the Colts an edge in the battle for the worst since a decent defense could sneak out a win.
