NFL Efficiency- Week 5

Here are the updated Efficiency Rankings for the NFL as of October 11th. Not sure if I will have time to post the passing and/or running stats this week, but I will try to do so.

Some changing in the top 5. The 49'ers and Bills jump in with their convincing wins while the Packers and Lions slide out based on not beating the teams they played by as much as one would have expected. The only team from last weeks top 10 to exit the ranking was the Tennessee Titans who got ambushed in Pittsburgh. They fell 8 spots with their efficiency dropping from a 37% to just a 4.5%. Early in the year you can see some big weekly swings like that. If the Titans have another bad one after the bye week you can probably write off the start of the year as a fluke. The Steelers rose 8 spots after that win and replaced the Titans and were the only new entrant in the top 15.

The Giants had the biggest crash of any team. They fell 9 spots to number 25 after getting beat up by the Seahawks. When you couple that with teams they have played against doing nothing this week, such as the Eagles and Cardinals, the Giants efforts look far less impressive on the season. Seattle's win jumped them out of the cellar and out of the bottom 5 entirely with the Jaguars taking their place. The Colts claimed the Seahawks number 32 spot, well deserved after allowing the Chiefs to come from behind and win. Its amazing how good Peyton Manning was and how ineffective their coach is. When Tom Brady went down the Patriots still finished at number 10 with Matt Cassel, who has been proven to be pretty awful, at QB. The Colts are going to drop from being a consistent top 10 team to number 30-32.
