Every year as free agency and the draft approaches there seems to be a rush for information regarding just exactly where your favorite team stands in regards to the NFL Salary Cap. Do we have money to spend? Do we need to cut our stars? Can we afford a high draft selection? For too long fans of the New York Jets have been without easy access to the data to help answer these questions and for a franchise with as large and as passionate of a fanbase of the New York Jets this is unacceptable. Hopefully this page helps fills that void for the Jets fan.
Calculating the salary cap in the NFL is near impossible, especially if you are a fan of a tight lipped franchise like the New York Jets. The Jets are ridiculously quiet about their contracts, leaking out bits and pieces of information here and there regarding their players.
While we will make every attempt to be accurate in our reporting of the salary cap numbers released by the Jets, please remember that this is an inexact science and that there will be mistakes along the way. We have collected data from reputable sources such as
the NFL Players Association, USA Todays NFL Salary Database, and various beat writers who follow the Jets such as Rich Cimimi of the Daily News, but even the best sources are often wrong or misled in some way by the organizations and/or players agents. In many cases
we will estimate bonus amounts trying to fill out a contract where it seems accurate based on tidbits of information that has been reported.
Take the time to browse the site and check out some of the features along with the salary cap information. We have a full up to date transactions page, future salary cap estimates, and a list off all the upcomings Jets
free agents. The articles page is a collection of my thoughts on the salary cap, the state of the team, game previews, and the NFL in general.
If you see any errors, have any new information, or have any questions please just send an email so we can try to get the most reliable information online for all of us fans.
